Baabarr is a crime thriller trying to fit in the league of Parinda and Satya. It is a recent film released in 2009 with a new face, Sohum Shah in the title role. It is based on the criminal syndicate of Uttar Pradesh where goons, politicians, and police work hand in glove. The film went through its share of trouble before its release since a petition was filed in the Bombay High Court for a ban because it was hurting the sentiments of Muslim because the main character is of the same religion who is in a brutal and demonic avataar.
