Ek Bechara is a 1972 drama film about a young simpleton and village buffoon coming to city to meet his father’s childhood friend and requesting a job. He is allowed by that man to stay at his house, who also has a young daughter of marriageable age. On the marriage day, when the groom’s parents demand dowry, this man turns them down, and gets his daughter married to the village guy.
